023 Sketch Tracer Module - Modeling DS Citroen #1

In this tutorial a DS Citroen car blue print is imported - in CATIA - using sketch tracer module.

The importing is done using the following steps:

  1. The blueprint is downloaded from the internet.
  2. Switch to Sketch tracer module.
  3. Import the image.
  4. Select the view desired.
  5. Locate the view orientation upon which other views will be located.
  6. MAKE SURE the render style is set to material with shading and that the view is set to parallel.

Here is the video that shows how to do these steps in full details:

022 Pump impeller modeling

In this tutorial a pump enclosed-type impeller is modeled - in CATIA - using part module and assembled using the assembly module. The impeller has two main parts among which lies the blades.

The impeller is modeled in CATIA through the following steps:

  1. The base plate of the fins is created using the revolve tool.
  2. The First blade of the impeller is created on the plate as a reference plane.
  3. The first blade is repeated 5 times radially in a full crown using the pattern tool.
  4. The cutting profile is created which hereafter will be revolved using the groove tool to make the final cut in the blades.
  5. The driving axle is created upon the base plate using the pad tool.
  6. The Second part is created by copying the cutting profile created earlier in step 4.
  7. Finally, the second part is assembled using coaxial constraint in the assembly module.
All these steps are shown in full details in the following video in order to create an impeller:

021 How to model a Drill bit using Catia

In this tutorial, a Drill bit is modeled in Catia using two modules, the generative surface design and the part design modules. The main idea of modeling the cutting blade of the bit was inspired by Abhijeet www.abhijeetks.yolasite.com. This drill bit has two main parts, the spiral cutting blade and the solid part.

This Drill bit is modeled in catia using the following steps:

  1. The cross section of the Drill bit is sketched in either the generative surface design or in the part design modules.
  2. Switching to the generative surface design, four helices are created emerging from the four points of the cross section. Length of the helix should be the desired length of the cutting blade.
  3. A support plane is created at a distance from the first sketch which is also equal to the length of the cutting blade.
  4. The second-end profile of the cutting blade is sketched on the support plane using projection tool.
  5. Switching to the Part design module, the multi-section solid tool is used to generate the Drill bit blade using the two profiles and the four helices.
  6. One surface is created to split the bit tip.
  7. The rest of the bit body is created.
  8. Two sweep surfaces are created down the bit to make the final runway for chips.
All these steps are shown in full details in the following video in order to create a Drill bit..Enjoy!:
